Little guy & I spent some time with my brother
the other night. For over an hour, Logan was
totally entertained by two small cat toys.
It had more to do with my my brother and his
ability to make just about anything fun - one
of the things I absolutely love about him
(Logan too). But it was fascinating to watch.
Logan was truly engaged. He didn't need a
bunch of animated, light-up toys that do a
million things. He just needed genuine interaction
from someone who clearly cared about him.
At our most basic level, I think that's what we all
quietly hope for and crave ~ the thing that brings
meaning and beauty to our lives. The thing that
makes us feel understood and loved even when
we're filled with doubt. Even when we've lost our
way.
