Dear Logan,
Today you are 8 months old.
Just within the past week you've
started crawling, pulling yourself
up to kneel and stand, and
you've added the beautiful sounding "Mama"
to your vocabulary, which mainly consisted of
"Dada," "Hi," & "Hey". You are still the
happiest little person I know, and one
of my favorite times of the day is when
I pick you up first thing in the morning
and you squeeze me with your strong little arms
and nestle your head in my neck. Who knew,
when Uncle Scotty started calling you the
"Happiness Warrior" when you were still
floating around inside my belly, how fitting that
name would be. You are filled with such
wonder and joy at the world around you ~
staring out the window as the wind passes through the
trees, clenching your toes when you see the kitties
walk by, and kicking your legs when you see the Baby
Bjorn and know it's time for a walk.
I never imagined having you in my life would
change me so much. Not a day goes by that your daddy and I
don't tell each other how we lucky we are to have you in
our lives. It sounds cliché, but you truly make us
want to be the absolute best versions of ourselves ~ you
remind us of all the beauty in the world and how important
it is to fight for what we believe in for ourselves and
for you. We are not perfect, never will be. But our love for you
is unwavering, and following our hearts is the best
thing we can do as we begin to teach you about what is
important in this world. Never lose your joy and your
wonder. Whether you realize it or not, even now, you
are slowly, quietly, changing the world . . .
