You know when you were young, like 8 or 9,
and used to spend days outside in the sun,
getting your hands dirty, losing your
breath with excitement, and you had that
friend who was always up for anything,
excited about your craziest ideas,
supportive of your dreams, always ready
to try something new. Well, that's Lindsay.
Even though we're not quite 8 and 9 and didn't
meet until way later in life,
she is still that friend. Positive,
searching, and usually bursting at the seams
to explore and discover something new.
She reminds me that I often know more than I think,
and the things I fear are usually just
the things holding me back, standing in the
way of getting me where I need to go.
Sunday, we went out on a photo shoot
so I could mess with some off-camera lighting
and take some photos that were a bit different
than what I'm used to. For some reason I
totally fear the lights. The same was I used to
fear shooting in "Manual" mode after years of
only shooting in "Program" mode. But just like
that transition, it was totally freeing.
Lindsay channeled her inner model and we ended up with
some rock star photos. And I learned the lesson I know
I will keep learning again and again, that I need to
follow that fear into the shadows of my own heart and
drag it out into the light. Because it's weak and
unoriginal, and I am stronger than I think.
And just maybe someday
that idea will stick.
I love the photos almost as much as I love you! yeah for being a rock star and a rock star photographer. Like Cynthia said there is nothing you can't do in the visual art world!

You are amazing! I love your work. EVERY single piece I have ever seen. I do not think there is anyting in the visual arts that you cannot do with the best of results!
These pics of Linds are so fun....and reflect your amazing eye! Congrats on something new.....may the exploration and the fulfillment of the process continue.
