Arms Dealer

Letter_2

“I am an arms dealer

fitting you with weapons

in the form of words.”

~from This Ain’t A Scene, It's An Arms Race by Fallout Boy

Words are a powerful thing.

They can make people rush to judgment

when they don’t understand their meaning,

can turn an idea into something

that suddenly becomes a plausible reality.

Words can motivate people to act

and remind them of their responsibility

to the world around them.

Too often we lose ourselves

in daily tasks and responsibilities,

never enough time for reflection.

And then something surfaces ~

writing from someone who

mimics a passion we once held but

lost sight of, and suddenly a feeling

within us stirs, and standing by silently

is not an option anymore after watching

so many others lose their voices forever,

never to regain them.

Controversy passes, another story

floods the airways, and we are left

standing in a place

we have created for ourselves ~

a place where we have a choice

between fading into the background

or regaining touch with humanity.

Emerging from the smoke,

stronger than ever, we realize

this was just one moment,

one extraordinary test,

pushing us deeper into ourselves,

forever shaping the future

that lies before us.
